“Many a man would rather you heard his story than granted his request.”
— Phillip Stanhope
Earl of Chesterfield
We are all human, yet sometimes we do not consider others worthy of our time or attention. We pass by. Eyes down. We remain strangers to one another.
Holding Out Hope wants to change that, one story at a time. Beginning with a name.
Holding Out Hope is about amplifying the voices of those who seldom speak, and sharing the names of those who are yet unknown. Through relationships of trust, Holding Out Hope writers/photographers facilitate opportunities for people to share authentic, inspiring, and sometimes surprising stories about their lives.
These are the stories of real people in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada. Many are homeless, or living in shelters, recovery, and half-way houses. Some live in the suburbs. We invite you to listen, and enter into these moments of holy exchange. You may find we are not that different after all.
“I’ll turn heartbreak valley into acres of hope.”
— Hosea 2:15, The Message
